PSHE at Barncroft

At Barncroft Primary we aim to develop successful learners who have the qualities and attributes they need to manage their lives, fulfil their academic potential, and to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society, both now and in the future.

PSHE education is integral to a planned programme of learning which helps our children to make good progress and leave us as responsible, happy citizens.

At Barncroft we use the Corham Life Education resources "SCRARF: Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Frienship" .  SCARF provides a simple framework and tools for developing a powerful, whole-school approach to mental health, safeguarding, behaviour and achievement.

Changes to the Relationship and Sex Education Curriculum

The Department for Education has announced changes to relationships and sex education (RSE), which will come into effect from September 2020.  All schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements and as a result we will be reviewing our RSE curriculum and olicy so we can be sure our RSE provision is appropriate for our pupils based on their:

  • Special educational needs and/or disabilities

As part of our preparation, we would like to invite parents to attend a meeting to review and give your views on the proposed changes before the implementation in September. The meeting will take place on Thursday 14th November 2019 in Bied Class from 3.30-4.30pm.
